The Rocks

The Rocks precinct is the heart of the old city. Its boundaries run from the north - west along Hickson Road, and to Kent Street to High Street and south to the southern approaches to the Harbour Bridge. To the south the precinct is bounded by Alfred Street from which it runs north adjacent to Circular Quay up to the southerly pilon of the Harbour Bridge.

The precinct is a heritage listed area with most buildings impacted by heritage orders. Buildings have typically been adapted for re-use given their heritage status with the most popular uses being retail, hospitality, entertainment, residential and offices. There are many notable conversions of stores and warehouses that feature prominent restaurants, apartments, and offices.
