Raine & Horne Foundation hits substantial $1 million milestone in community giving

The Raine & Horne Foundation, the philanthropic arm of leading Australasian property group Raine & Horne has achieved a substantial milestone by reaching $1 million in charitable contributions.

The Foundation reached this charitable landmark by aiding Australians in need, addressing homelessness, protecting the environment, supporting rural and regional areas, and contributing to international relief efforts.

The Raine & Horne Foundation exemplifies the real estate group’s 142-year commitment to community care. “Raine & Horne has been helping Australians realise their property dreams since 1883, and our Foundation carries that same spirit of care into the wider community,” says Angus Raine, Executive Chairman of Raine & Horne.

“Backed by contributions from our office network, the Foundation unites our people and offices to deliver lasting social impact across Australia and beyond.

“The Foundation receives a percentage of our marketing fund annually to support selected charities and it’s an amazing opportunity for every Raine & Horne office to contribute directly to some very important local and international causes.”

Mr Raine added, “Reaching the $1 million mark highlights the compassion and commitment that define the values within our network, and it’s a major milestone that as a group, we are very proud to share.”

Supporting causes that matter

The Raine & Horne Foundation channels its funding and volunteering efforts into a select group of partner organisations that share its focus on community, environment, and humanitarian care.

  • Dignity – ending homelessness in Australia
  • The Foundation supports Dignity’s 1 Million Meals project, which aims to deliver 1 million meals of food relief to Australians in need. Raine & Horne team members regularly volunteer to prepare meals and prepare guest packs for people experiencing homelessness.
  • In recognition of this partnership, in 2022, Dignity named one of its supported temporary accommodation properties Raine & Horne Foundation House. This property opened in 2019 to provide safe housing for people in Western Sydney. With 11 furnished, self-contained units, the House offers over 4000 nights of accommodation per year[i].
  • Rural Aid – strengthening rural Australia
  • As a Silver Partner, the Raine & Horne Foundation has donated $125,000 to Rural Aid since 2023. Rural Aid provides support to farmers affected by droughts, bushfires, and floods. This support includes financial assistance, counselling, water and hay deliveries, and volunteer programs.
  • Over the past five years, Rural Aid has successfully raised and distributed $100 million, with more than 18,000 farmers registered to receive assistance. This partnership with Rural Aid builds on a $100,000 donation in 2022 to the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR)[ii], further strengthening regional communities.
  • Raine Island: Great Barrier Reef Foundation – protecting the environment
  • The Raine & Horne Foundation provided a $100,000 donation[iii] to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to help fund habitat restoration and research on endangered turtles and seabirds at Raine Island, one of the Reef’s most remote islands, located 620 kilometres north-west of Cairns.
  • Significantly, Raine Island was named by Captain Thomas Raine, the first European to set foot on the island after landing there as the skipper of the Surry in 1815. The buccaneering Captain Raine was the father of Tom Raine, co-founder of Raine & Horne.

Raine & Horne Foundation praised for impact across conservation, homelessness and rural communities

Anna Marsden, Managing Director, Great Barrier Reef Foundation, said the organisation is deeply grateful to the Raine & Horne Foundation for its generous support.

“It’s inspiring that an organisation dedicated to finding people their forever homes has helped us protect the world’s largest green sea turtle nesting ground on Raine Island. They are helping protect a forever home on our iconic Great Barrier Reef.”

Suzanne Hopman, CEO of Dignity, says the Raine & Horne Foundation’s support has been instrumental in helping Dignity expand its reach and impact.

“Thank you, Raine & Horne Foundation, for believing in Dignity’s mission of empowering people with dignity to prevent, respond to and end their homelessness,” Ms Hopman said.

“On top of the financial donations, the Raine & Horne team has provided countless hours of corporate volunteering over the years and launched creative collection drives to support people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

“We are grateful for their continued support. Collaboratively, we can end homelessness in Australia.”

John Warlters, CEO of Rural Aid, said the Foundation’s support is making a genuine difference in rural Australia. “Partnerships like this with Raine and Horne are vital. Rural Aid’s impact depends on working together with generous partners who share our commitment to the well-being of farming families and rural communities.

“The Raine & Horne Foundation’s support allows us to be there long after the headlines fade, providing both immediate relief and sustained recovery.”
