Raine & Horne provides platinum level support to major Parramatta charity event

August 29, 2018

Raine & Horne’s extensive western Sydney network of real estate offices is once again supporting the Coleman Greig Challenge that will attract hundreds of cyclists, joggers and walkers to Parramatta Park on Friday 21 September 2018.

The Coleman Greig Challenge which launched in 2013 raises funds for its charity partners St Gabriel’s School for students with hearing impairment and other special needs, Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children and Westmead Hospital Foundation.

Since 2013, the Coleman Greig Challenge has raised nearly $600,000,” said John Surian, Managing Director of Raine & Horne Commercial Parramatta, who is leading Raine & Horne’s support for the annual run, walk and ride challenge.

Raine & Horne Commercial Parramatta is once again supporting the Coleman Greig Challenge in 2018 along with residential firms Raine & Horne Parramatta, Raine & Horne Penrith and Raine & Horne Castle Hill, while Craig Betalli will lead a team from financial services firm, Our Broker.

“The goal this year is to raise $225,000 for children with special needs and newborn care,” said Mr Surian, an avid cyclist, who has organised a Raine & Horne team to compete in the challenge every year since 2013.

“We support the Coleman Greig Challenge’s goal that every child has the right to quality health and education services to allow them to reach their full potential. All funds raised are donated to the charity partners.”

Raine & Horne will be competitive

Apart from the fund-raising activities, Mr Surian said he has assembled two extremely competitive teams that includes team captain Brett McMurtrie from the Waratahs Masters Cycling Club, who has ridden with multiple Tour De France champion Chris Froome.

Other A-Grade riders include Chris Sutton, Malcolm Lanyon, Chris Richardson, Karlo Bozic and Adam Dimech. The B-Grade team will consist of Paul Lewis, Paul Glover, Martin Fileman, David Neill and Mr Surian. Other riders will include Andrew Wilson, Troy Smith and Mr Betalli.

“We have two top class teams in the A and B Grade divisions, and we expect to be well in the mix when the finish line appears,” Mr Surian said.

“For the running section of the challenge, we are putting together a competitive team from the Raine & Horne offices in our region.”

Doing our bit

Giving back to the community is Raine & Horne’s primary driver for supporting the Coleman Greig Challenge, noted Mr Surian.

He explained, “It’s crucial that the business community, including real estate agents, realise that our governments can’t be expected to do all the heavy financial lifting when it comes to supporting charities such as St Gabriel’s, Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children and Westmead Hospital Foundation.

“If we must do our bit where we can, the world will be a much better place.

“Working with other organisations such as Coleman Greig, Macquarie Bank, KPMG and the other sponsors delivers excellent networking opportunities too,” Mr Surian added.

“Moreover, I am a firm believer that any business that supports worthy charities is someone you can trust when the time comes to do business.”
