WESTERN SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL (NANCY-BIRD WALTON) AIRPORT

The Western Sydney International Airport, also known as Nancy-Bird Walton Airport or Badgerys Creek Airport, is one of the most anticipated infrastructure projects in Australia. The airport is expected to have a significant impact on the economy of Western Sydney, creating thousands of jobs and boosting the region's connectivity with the rest of the world.

The Western Sydney International Airport is located in Badgerys Creek, around 50km west of Sydney's central business district. The airport will cover an area of 1,780 hectares and have a single 3.7km runway. The airport's initial capacity will be 10 million passengers per year, with plans to expand to 82 million passengers by 2063. The airport will have a terminal with 19 gates, a cargo area, and a business park.

Nancy-Bird Walton Airport is expected to have significant economic benefits and boost to the tourism industry in Western Sydney. The airport is estimated to create 28,000 jobs during the construction phase and 22,000 jobs once operational. The airport's construction is also expected to inject $9.2 billion into the economy, with an annual economic contribution of $1.9 billion once operational.

Although the airport's construction has also faced delays and cost blowouts, it is still expected to be operating in 2026. The Western Sydney International Airport is an important infrastructure project for Australia that will provide significant economic benefits to Western Sydney increasing the region's connectivity with the rest of the world while simultaneously creating thousands of jobs and boosting the local economy.
