BOATIES and off-roaders will have a new mecca in Lawnton, after Road Tech Marine signed off on a three-year lease for a retail showroom on Gympie Rd.

The 687sq m showroom, which covers two tenancies at 690 Gympie Rd, went for $114,155 a year and the company plans to fit it out over the coming weeks before opening in July.

Road Tech Marine is affiliated with Jaycar Electronics, and the retailer will carry over 4000 product lines including communication equipment, buoys, wiring, lights, power generators and parts and accessories for trailer boats, caravans and four-wheel drives.

Raine & Horne Commercial’s Tim Jones said he had previously dealt with Jaycar on a site they had purchased last year in Strathpine, and returned to him looking for a site nearby for Road Tech Marine.  He said once they’d found the Gympie Rd site it didn’t take long before the company signed on the dotted line.

‘‘It was quite quick, the leasing manager from Road Tech Marine pulled up outside the site and asked to go through it and we had an offer on the table within two weeks,’’ he said.

Mr Jones said the company had only wanted two of the three tenancies available and so decided on leasing instead of buying the location outright.  He said the site was a great location for the retailer, with high traffic from the road and similar stores.  ‘‘And there’s a lot of other bulky goods retailers in the area that brings customers.’’
