27/08/2010 - Property Chain Upsizes

Go Gecko Finds Larger Premises On Eastside

A rapidly expanding Brisbane-based property chain has secured a deal for its new corporate head office in the city's northeastern suburbs.

National real estate business Go Gecko Property Sales has moved its headquarters from Virginia to larger premises at 2/34 Navigator Place, Hendra, taking a 10-year lease with five-year option on the 330sqm ground floor office space.

Raine & Horne Commercial's Matthew Thomson and Lawrence Temple struck the deal at a rental rate of $102,300, equivalent to $310/sqm net plus outgoings and GST.

Go Gecko Property Sales general manager Brendan Mulheran said with a year still left before its lease at Vriginia expired the company found itself with no room to move.

"We simply outgrew those premises," he said.

"We doubled the size of our network and therefore needed more support staff but we didn't have the space to fit any more desks and chairs."

The company is now looking to sublease the premises at Pritchard Rd, Virginia.

Mr Mulheran said it had taken the company four to five months to find a suitable property to expand into.

He said the Hendra property appealed because it was brand new and "we could design the space how we wanted it."

With half of the staff living on the northside and the other half on the southside its location close to the Gateway Motorway was also convenient.

Other key factors were that the building provided a better corporate image, exposure, increased car parking and proximity to the airport and CBD.

Mr Thomson said the location was becoming more and more desirable as the Gateway Motorway/Bridge and Airport Link upgrades made the previous traffic bottlenecks associated with the area manageable.

"Due to this the Navigator Place commercial precinct has become much more accessible from all directions," he said adding inquiry in the Hendra precinct was increasing daily.
