It was the potentially profitable hum of passing traffic that convinced Dealer Network Queensland to relocate to Rothwell.

The vehicle dealership trading under the name, Tuffin The Truck Up, has secured a five-year lease with two five-year options on a showroom/warehouse at 739 Deception Bay Rd, just north of Brisbane.

Previously operating solely out of a facility in nearby Clontarf, DNQ is the only stand-alone dealer for Mahindra, which produces India’s premier commercial utility vehicle.  DNQ director Barry Forbes said it was all about the passing traffic.

‘‘We relocated mainly because of the positive visibility,’’ he said. ‘‘Our old operation was in the backstreets of Clontarf and also on a service road and we just lacked the ability to attract the drive-by customer. The passing traffic here is enormous.’’

In the deal struck by Raine & Horne Commercial’s Nick Bandiera, DNQ will pay $317,500 a year plus outgoings and GST.

The property features a 2,193sqm showroom/warehouse as well as a 200sqm showroom on a 1,210sqm display yard with full truck drive-through access.  The dealership will display vehicles in the showroom and also have a workshop on the premises.

Mr Bandiera said the larger warehouse at the back of the building had been vacant for more than 18 months.

‘‘When the front showroom/car yard became available it was an ideal opportunity for Dealer Network Queensland to expand here,’’ he said.  ‘‘They were looking for three months before it became available.’’

Mr Bandiera said Rothwell was increasing in popularity. ‘‘It’s almost the gateway to the peninsula so the passing traffic is excellent,’’ he said.  ‘‘That northern corridor is growing very quickly. Deception Bay Rd is a very prominent street and properties along that strip are very tightly held.’’
