16/03/2012 - A new venue on the road to Fame

Young entertainers in the making have a new venue to help them on the road to fame and fortune.

Fame Theatre Company has leased the front office section of the Albion Indoor Sports Centre at 43 Burdett St for its new studios.

Fame owner Nicole Wheeler said the company had been at Hurworth St, Bowen Hills for 20 years.

‘But because of the re-zoning and all the building work it became too difficult to continue so we had to move,’ she said.

‘We looked for a couple of months and looked at a few places but as soon as I walked into Burdett St and had a look I knew it was the right place.’

In the deal negotiated by Raine & Horne Commercial’s Alex McSweeney, Fame has secured a three-year lease with a three-year option on the 540sqm two level office premises for $107,800 a year

Ms Wheeler said Fame taught musical theatre skills ranging from singing, dancing & acting.

She said Burdett St will be Fame’s head office for its other teaching schools.

‘We had to convert the three small offices at the front to make a large dance studio space,’ she said. ‘The families are very excited about the new venue.’

Mr McSweeney said Fame secured the sub-lease from the Albion Indoor Sports Centre. ‘The sports centre still leases 100sqm at the front while Fame takes the rest of the office space in front,’ he said.

Fame’s former home is set to be transformed into studio apartments.
