Growing property valuation firm opts for higher visibility address. HTW moves to hub of action

The need for more space has prompted property valuers Herron Todd White to upgrade to larger corporate offices in Brisbane’s north.

After more than 10 years at the Flockton St shopping centre in Everton Park. HTW has moved its head office to 1/811 Gympie Rd, Chermside,

HTW chairman Gavin Hulcombe said the business had outgrown its former premises and it was time to upgrade.

‘We started at Flockton Village as a small, satellite office and it grew from three people to 60 people’ he said, ‘So with the shopping centre being redeveloped, we had the option of staying there but there was also the opportunity to start again- bigger premises, better exposure, a better position and more professional office.’

HTW has secured a five year lease with a five year option for 519sqm of space in the two-storey property, just 200m from Chermside Shopping Centre.

The rental rate was not disclosed but, with market rates in Chermside ranging between $350-$400sqm, HTW will be paying about $200,000.

It is understood HTW will have signage rights.

Mr Hulcombe said HTW was ‘tentatively’ looking for 12 months.

‘But, ultimately, once we made our decision to move, it all happened pretty quickly- probably about six to eight weeks.’ He said.

‘We probably didn’t have a lot of options but found one that suited our requirements pretty quickly. We were especially attracted to the car spaces, which is a big issue for us because we have a lot of residential valuers and they are out on the road and need a relatively convenient place to park.’

Raine & Horne Commercial’s Trent Bruce, who completed the deal with Hudson Dale, said the building was one of the top commercial-retail facilities of its type in the area.

He said that Chermside could one day have 15 storey highrises.

‘It has been designated as the CBD of northside and it is only eight to nine kilometres from town.’ Mr Bruce said.

‘So it made sense for Herron Todd White to be located in that area.’
