15/03/2013 - Wilston Eatery Hits Spot

Two Gold Coast restaurateurs have ventured north, opening a new eatery in Wilston Village. Peter Mill and Imelda Bordiss have secured a five-year lease with a five year option for their Serotina Restaurant & Bar at 70 Kedron Brook Rd.

Ms Bordiss said Wilston Village was a busy restaurant precinct and ideal for Serotina’s Australian cuisine offering. ‘‘This is our first restaurant in Brisbane,’’ she said. ‘‘The location here is excellent and Wilston is a really lovely area.’’

The restaurant, in a three-year-old building, features 140sq m of inside area that can seat about 80 people, plus 84sq m of storage, kitchen, office and alfresco space.

In the deal struck by Raine & Horne’s Elliott O’Shea, Serotina will pay $120,000 a year plus outgoings and GST. The property was previously occupied by modern Australian restaurant Q’Essence.

‘‘Vacancy was not a factor because Q’Essence was operating a week before Serotina moved in,’’ Mr O’Shea said. ‘‘There was a fitout in place from Q’Essence so it was handed over as almost a turn-key setup.’’

Mr O’Shea said Wilston Village was well known as a restaurant precinct. ‘‘We had a few offers over the period of the campaign but no one had quite the money we needed,’’ he said. ‘‘There was quite a variety  of restaurants looking at it though – Italian, Greek and others.’’
