09/11/2012 - Migrant Body Expands

A migrant and refugee organisation has expanded to Brisbane’s north side, securing office space in a complex at Nundah. The 450sqm tenancy is spread over two levels at 5/2 Jenner St and has been taken by the Multicultural Development Association. It is an independent organisation that works with migrants and refugees and helps them settle in Queensland. The leasing rate has not been disclosed but industry sources said similar space in the precinct fetched $225-$250/sqm. Nick Whinnett and Hudson Dale from Raine & Horne Commercial negotiated the deal. Mr Whinnett said the Multicultural Development Association wanted a suitable property to establish a north side presence. ‘‘Looking to establish a support office near the centre of Brisbane’s north side was important for the tenant as it would work in conjunction with its Woolloongabba head office,’’ he said.

Mr Whinnett said the Nundah premises ticked all the boxes for the organisation and it moved quickly to secure it. ‘‘Nundah is a pretty tightly held pocket,’’ Mr Whinnett said. ‘‘There is very little vacancy and when something does become available it is snapped up very quickly. ‘‘The Jenner St property is part of a larger office/warehouse unit within a complex of six units. ‘‘Its office space had been completely refurbished before being marketed for lease and so it presented well inside and was ready for occupation with only tenant-specific fit-out required.’’ Mr Whinnett said the location of the premises, only 50m from Nundah train station and a short walk to Nundah Village, was a key factor in the transaction. ‘‘Multicultural Development Association was drawn to the property for its proximity to rail and bus services, large amount of car parking and overall ease of access for visitors,’’ he said.
